Here is a list of the types of Visas available depending on your purpose of visit. There are 3 main Schengen visa types, and they are.
- Schengen visa type A The type A Schengen visa, which is also known as an airport transit visa, enables nationals of non-Schengen nations to transit through or wait for their connecting flight in the international terminal of an airport in a Schengen country. This allows them to transit from a non-Schengen country to another non-Schengen country.
- Schengen visa type C
This is the most common type of visa, and it is the embassy, consulate, or designated external providers (member of the Schengen region) that are responsible for issuing this visa. The holder of this visa is permitted to stay within a Schengen country for 90 days and over a six-month period. Depending on the reason, the short-stay category C Schengen visa can be used for any of the following: tourism, business, medical reasons and a few other purposes. Type-C Visas vary according to the number of entries:
- A single-entry type-C Schengen Visa – allows you to stay in Europe for up to 90 days. Once you leave the Schengen Area, you can no longer come back by using the same Visa.
- A double entry type C Schengen Visa – The holder of a double-entry visa is permitted two entries into the Country legally during the duration of the visa’s validity. If you don’t stay in the nation for more than 90 days within that time, you are permitted to leave and reenter.
- A multiple-entry visa – allows the holder to make as many exits and entry as desired. This permit is only good for 90 days out of a possible 180. 3. Schengen visa type D
People that apply for this visa enter the country for family reunions, study or work purposes. With a type-D Schengen visa, also known as a national visa, you can stay in a Schengen nation for up to a year. The number of entries determines the type of national visa needed:
- Single entry type D Schengen visa : For citizens who do not need to return to their home countries before their visas expire, embassies and consulates grant single-entry D-type Schengen visas.
- Multiple-entry D-type Schengen visa : This type of visa also allows you to enter and exit the Schengen country as frequently as you’d like for up to a year. However, in order to obtain a multiple-entry visa in a Schengen nation, you must fulfill certain requirements.
