Under the Canadian current legislation, the Canadian government has established two immigration schemes in place right now that are particularly designed for caregivers who want to immigrate to Canada to become permanent residents. These programs include.
- HOME CHILD CARE PROGRAM (HCCP)
It is a five-year program that enables caregivers to immigrate to Canada with family members who would be qualified to apply for a work or study permit in Canada. The new Home Child-Care Provider Pilot, identified as NOC 44100, was introduced on June 18, 2019. Rather than employer-specific work permits, this new pilot program offers occupation-specific ones to caregivers. To obtain permanent residency, Caregiver applicants must fulfill the requirements for work experience.
To be eligible to apply for the HCCP program, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Complete one year of post-secondary study, either domestically or internationally.
- Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
- Obtain a CLB 5 or above in an English language proficiency exam.
- Possess one year or more of work experience under NOC TEER CODE 44100
- HOME SUPPORT WORKER PROGRAM (HSWP)
This program allows people to immigrate to Canada and work as home support workers if they have prior experience caring for the elderly, people with disabilities, and people who are ill or receiving medical treatment. This program was introduced in 2019 and it is available to foreign nationals with work experience under NOC 44101. Candidates obtain a temporary work permit upon arrival in Canada and finalized their already applied permanent residency after 2 years of work experience.
